Seating/Footstool

You may be wondering what this is. Ok… it’s basically an seat/side-table/plant-stand thing. Have been making a few small butcher block type tops over the past few weeks, the end-grain looks great when it’s facing outwards. This piece took a while to figure out how to construct accurately. The top and bottom where glued together separately and clamped up overnight. I built a simple jig to hold them together while drilling holes for the threaded bar. Used 1/2″ Steel bar which gives the piece a nice industrial look and contrasts nicely with the hardwood. Here’s the original sketch…

And here’s how it’s looking at the moment…

It’s a bit different from original sketch, it’s around 18″ high and a good height for a seat
